For our success story this week, we’re highlighting a common goal of job seekers looking for flexible freelance work—namely, to earn supplemental income.
Flexible jobs offer great opportunities for people looking for primary incomes, but they also offer fantastic options for job seekers who are already employed and looking for supplemental income.
That was the case for Tamiko W., who shared her job search experiences with us. Responding to a series of questions from FlexJobs, Tamiko offered details about how her FlexJobs membership led to her part-time, freelance job as a social mediator evaluator for Appen, a global language technology and consulting firm.
In Search of Freelance Work
A resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tamiko told us she had supplemental income in mind when she began her job search. “I wanted to look for a more flexible job because I wanted extra income,” Tamiko said.
Tamiko’s starting situation: she was already working part-time and “needed another job, but one where I could have the flexibility to work around my current schedule,” she said.
Discovering the Best Source for Flexible Work
When she began her job hunt, Tamiko decided to see where a broad web search would lead her. “I learned about FlexJobs just by browsing the Internet seeking at-home jobs,” she wrote. She discovered the FlexJobs listings of thousands of flexible jobs, and the great benefits that come with a FlexJobs membership.
As she debated whether to join, Tamiko said she took the time to explore the many features of a FlexJobs membership that are highlighted on our website. “I watched the video on the website, read the information, as well as checked out the BBB,” Tamiko said, referring to FlexJobs’ top-notch rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Compared to other job search sites, Tamiko said she found a lot of features that bolstered her decision to become a member. “I liked the fact that it seemed, and was, legitimate,” Tamiko wrote. She also liked that the jobs are researched and vetted by our staff. FlexJobs “does the research of at-home jobs for you so you don’t waste valuable time.”
Encouragement for Other Job Seekers
Tamiko had great suggestions for other job seekers looking for freelance work and supplemental income. “My advice is to do your research of any company you are seeking to work with,” Tamiko said. Another smart practical tip: “When joining FlexJobs, make sure to complete your profile as soon as possible. The sooner you do it, the faster you can submit yourself for jobs.”
Thanks to Tamiko for sharing her job search experience, and congratulations to her on her FlexJobs success! Readers, are you in the market for freelance work? Share your tips with us!
